New Delhi, 02 January 2018: Registering a growth in production over the last year, Volkswagen India’s Pune Plant has recorded its highest ever annual production since 2009. Total production for the year stood at 150,150 cars in 2017, while the overall number till date has crossed 870,000 units.

The Pune plant has witnessed a growth for the sixth year running, thanks to a combination of higher domestic and export demand. The Volkswagen Polo, Ameo, Vento and ŠKODA Rapid are produced in this facility and this is the only German car manufacturing plant in India that covers the entire production process from pressing parts to final assembly. In addition to cars, the 1.5 litre and 2.0 litre diesel engines are also assembled at the facility.

Volkswagen Pune Plant has so far attracted an investment of over € 825 million (INR 5,720 crore). The plant has achieved a localisation level of approximately 82% (without engines and transmissions) and has a workforce of 3600 employees.
